Oh to shop with 4 kids

I have to preface this by telling you that they are GOOD kids. I'm sure I've said it 100 times, it is more emotionally exhausting for me to go shopping with them than physically. They are really good kids.
And CJ has an enormous heart. The kids are saving up for a game or something, but CJ had $4 of his own and he wanted to share it with all the kids. Isn't that sweet? It is soooo sweet. However, standing in the store, and saying "Okay, babies, why don't you decide what you each want" had the same effect (on me) as saying "Okay, acid rain, I'm naked. Do your thing." First we visited toys. $4, 4 kids....see where I'm going with this? Well the $1 toys SUCK. CJ knows this. So soon the wheeling and dealing began. Pick the way it went, I heard them all. CJ whispering to Josh "let's get them to get $1 things, and we'll get this $2 thing." or Jordan just not understanding what $1 means, so soon he was pissing and moaning because The Mean Mom kept saying no to the $17 toy. No lie, they spent 30 minutes trying to work it out. While I watched them, I simutaneously wished to be struck dead by lightening, felt my heart swelling listening to them trying to compromise and sad, wondering if I was somehow wrecking them with too big of a responsibility. Eventually CJ said screw the toys (those are not literal words), let's hit dessert.
Here's where it gets cool.
At first they wanted candy bars and even though it's "their" money, I firmly said NO. We have enough crap in this house. NO, NO, NO. But I wishy washed when it came to ice cream. They could easily buy a thing of ice cream, all eat it, like 2 or 3 times...I mean YAY, something ALL 4 agree on? SOLD! Would you believe that 75% of the kids picked out and agreed on all by themselves without my directing SHERBET?! Something they could buy that I'd feel GOOD about? YAY!ROCK ON! The 25% that did not agree on it boo hoooooooed all the way out the store with no one paying him much attention. It also took him 1.25 hours to eat dinner, and then he finally had some and he LOVED IT. I still felt like a weak little bitch by time we got home, but the kids compromised and CJ is just so generous.
But please, world, please...I don't wanna do it again for a few days, okay?
