2011

I am officially the biggest poop there ever has lived.
But I stayed up very late, and did have a glass of wine.
Mom and Dad came over, and then The Chucks and MFN. We had played cards earlier and munched on food (this is when wine was ingested, making me a little fuzzy and VERY tired).
Then we did round robin scratch off tickets.
And it was nice.

Before I launch into why it's so stupid to get jacked over a change in DATE, I will tell you that one that I feel that the United States does right is the amount of slacking in the workplaces (in general) between Christmas and New Years. As a general population, many people either take that week off or score nice long weekends on both weekends and it isn't frowned upon by the Slave Drivers. It's a good thing.

And I do realize that for Some People, that change in date is very important. The see a new start, where SURELY things will be "better". These are generally the people who don't remember that they have full control over the things "going on" around them. At the very, very, VERY least, the way they react to them. They really need that date to change and give them a fresh start. Usually by what...April, *something* or other has happen and the whole year is shot again and we start the wait for a new year again.
So many people forget that we can shrink it down, if we're waiting for a mere calendar change. Gee....we have TWELVE chances every year to believe that our slate is clean again, if we would just get that jazzed when we get a new MONTH. OR...Omigosh...we get FIFTY TWO new chances if we shrink that down just a little bit more! Each SATURDAY could represent a new week and new starts, a fresh clean slate all over again! OR! OR! OR!!!!!!!! SHUTTHEHELLUP! We could wake up EACH DAY knowing it's new and that yesterday is gone and we can make new choices...and if that is TRUE...*GASP*...we have all these hours and minutes and SECONDS!!!!!!!! But WHY would most of us use each second so wisely? Or hour? Why not bumble along waiting for things that appear to be outside of ourselves to happen TO us? Why dream something up and then go make it happen? Why see the stumbles as a sign that we are growing and ready for another growth spurt? Why make things better NOW? We should definitely wait for another January 1 to roll around!

*SILLY*

That's just MY narrow perception of course. What a great opportunity to drink and get drunk!!!!! I mean...it's completely accepted on December 31st! it's expected even! If you have to try to "be good" any other night...well, this one screams LET ER RIP! It IS a good excuse to get together, and if you don't get to see people you like enough....it's a great time to be together. And it's not really my concern or business what people do....we usually go to Rick and Tina's. We didn't because the weather SOUNDED threatening and Cullen has been 2 full weeks without more than almost 5 hours of sleep since last weekend was Christmas one day and a bad choice that night, leading to drunkenness and a lack of sleep the next day. :) He's overdue. I plan on letting him sleep as much as he wants today. He's an idiot for that one day, but in general he is SO much happier with enough sleep and gosh, a body needs that desperately. Anyhow...just watching the celebrations......and it's nice...togetherness is nice, and yay for big partiers who got trashed and are so sick today, just the way they wanted to be....with all of their drunk stories that they may or may not remember from the night before (You'll forgive me, but I hate alcohol and I think people are stupid when it comes to it), YAY for them! I just think we (in general) miss a lot of chances to "start over" if that is what we want to do.

What I DO like doing, is making our family goals for the year and hanging them up where we can see them. This year, my favorite things on the list are a- try homeschooling this summer for one full month to see if we can do it and if we like it, and b-on the first of each month, as a family we will write someone a love note and send it out. I love that! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

I think I want to get Your Baby Can Read for all of my babies. I have 3 such young ones here during the day and Jordan is learning everything so fast right now..I gotta check into that.

FOUR MORE DAYS and we'll be back into the sunshine and warmth. I'm going shopping today. Momma needs some new shoes and shorts. :) Old Navy or Unique...oh, the decisions!
